David Nevue & Philip Wesley, forever on my top.

More than 10 years ago I “stumbled” by chance on SKYFM radio (No radiotunes, I think), possibly one of the first online radio stations on the internet. This radio accompanied me for several years during my moments of study and reading.

SKYFM included a multitude of streaming channels, including Solo Piano. A multitude of tracks were airplayed on this channel, it was the gateway to the New Age piano in those years.

Among the melodies that I discovered, there was one that completely captivated me, I mean “Love’s Last Embrace” by pianist Philip Wesley.

The “Finding Solace” album was my first contemporary piano solo album. A jewel that I guard with great affection. An album that I don’t know why, I always prefer to listen to in the fall, even though its melodies are beautiful and can be enjoyed at any time.

It was difficult to get Wesley’s discography here in Spain, but thanks to the great reviewer and my mentor, Kathy Parsons from MainlyPiano, I was able to get all of Wesley’s albums through CDbaby or Amazon (born then…).

My desire to continue discovering the sound of that piano led me to discover the great pianist and founder of Whisperings Solo Piano Radio on Christmas. A piano that, like Wesley, has incredible melodic beauty. I mean the great David Nevue.

From then on, Nevue and Wesley albums were playing non-stop in my room. Thanks to Whisperings Solo Piano Radio I discovered great pianists like: David Lanz, Ralph Zurmรผhle, Michael Dulin, Michele McLaughlin, Lisa Downing, Suzanne Ciani, Catherine Marie Charlton, Jennifer Thomas, Brian Crain, Paul Cardall, Danny Wright, Rebecca Oswald, Doug Hammer, Joseph Akins, Gary Girouard, George Skaroulis, Greg Maroney, Joe Bongiorno, Jeff Bjorck, Jennifer Haines, Sarah Modene, Kevin Kern, Louis Landon, Matthew Mayer, Neil Patton, Peter Kater, Robin Spielberg, Scott D. Davis, Stรฉphane Horeczko, Thad Fiscella, Tiana, Tim Glemser, Tim Neumark, Wayne Gratz… They all formed an exquisite group of friends where talent and magic stood out in the so-called Concert Homes they performed,

To this day, I continue to enjoy the albums of all these great pianists, but there is a short list of favourites, albums that I hold dear, all by Nevue and Wesley:

Finding Solace by Philip Wesley
In A Lifetime by Philip Wesley
Comfort & Joy by Philip Wesley
Dark Night of the Soul by Philip Wesley
The Tower by David Nevue
While the Trees Sleep by David Nevue
The Last Waking Moment by David Nevue
The Vigil by David Nevue
O Come Emmanuel by David Nevue
Sweet Dreams & Starlight by David Nevue
Overcome by David Nevue
Adoration: Piano Hyms by David Nevue

I have to thank them, Nevue and Wesley, for introducing me to this passionate world and of course to them, Kathy Parsons and Chad Lawson, for having made ReviewsNewAge.com born. Eternally grateful.
